There are many activities that could be done to make the students motivated about their school and their environment .. As we all know most of the modern theories emphasize on the students' feelings during their learning experiences , and I believe that the more we involve students in activities the more they'll be motivated and attached to their learning.
On this page I will be sharing with you many activities implemented in our school to make the students more comfortable and attached to their school.
Football & Basketball matches : Whether we admit it not , our students just love sports so why don't we try to give them some sports space? Sports class is not about taking a break and having no teacher around . Sports class means real sport. Our school participates in national football school competitions and gives the children a team to belong to and have fun with. We even have a school tournament where classes play against each other and the team winning is the school's champ. Teachers are also involved and there are games between the students and the teachers. Such activities make school a more fun place and students would be more attached to it.
Fun Day festival : It's day when students come to school with no bags no books just for fun. Fun activities are conducted and simple prizes are given to students. Again that makes students become more attached to the school.
Charity Campaigns: School is not only about completing a specific curriculum it about teaching the students values and how to feel with others. Making the students realize the problems faced by our sisters and brothers in the Arab world made the students have the urge to start donation campaigns for Palestine and Somalia. When the students hear about the probelms they feel that they need to do something. It is our job to motivate them and show that they are able to help in any way. Students prepared presentations about the problems suffered by or arab world and then collected donations.Such activities make students feel that they belong to others and get connected with their inner good inside them.
Food Donation: In our country there are many poor people who need simple things as just "food". Our students decided to make a food donation campaign in the school to help the Lebanese needy citizens before Eid Al Adha to draw a smile on their faces. Such activity also helps the students appreciate what they already have and get in touch with their inner good.
Crazy hat day: It is our job as teachers to help students show us what they got . So crazy hat day is a fun activity that encourages students to show us their wild side and their creativity. Each student creates a hat and come to school wearing it . Such activity motivates students to come to school and helps them break the ice between other students.
Student Council Elections: this activity helps students to live the life of elections and now how to be responsible for their choices . It also teaches the candidates to have a strong personality and to be responsible for certain issues.
Visiting national sites: We took the students to Riyak Air base to make the students explore the life of the soldiers there. It also helped the students get information of how to enroll to the Lebanese army and gain more respect to the soldiers after viewing them at work.
